UKSMA Metrics Practices Committee

The Metrics Practices Committee (MPC) is the primary working committee of UKSMA. The general aim of the MPC is to support the aims of UKSMA by supporting its members and promoting the use of Software Metrics by publishing standards and guidance about measurement in general, and the use of Functional Size Measurement in particular.

The particular responsibilities of the MPC include:

  • promoting the use of software metrics by developing products and services for the membership, as directed by the Management Committee.
  • performing the role of Design Authority for the MKII FPA method by maintaining the MKII FPA Counting Practices Manual.
  • acting as a focal point for the IFPUG FPA Method in the UK
  • through the Certification Sub-committee, currently chaired by Rosemary Hewett, Steria, controlling the award of the Certified Function Point Analysts for MKII FPA by setting and administering a formal examination
  • acting as the help desk for members by moderation of the Portal discussion forums.

The current Chairman of the MPC is Peter Fagg, Pentad Ltd. The membership of the committee is not fixed, volunteers are appointed according to the nature of the work delegated to it by the Management Committee.
