The day to day running of UKSMA is carried out by
the management committee and several other sub-committees, each with its own areas of responsibility, the members of which are all volunteers.

Electronics. I believe I was the first user of CMM
outside US while at Racal in 1989. (Actually it was
CMU/SEI-87-TR-23.) Before that a geophysicist with
the British Antarctic Survey and high energy
astrophysics research.

Member's Experience in Metrics
Grant Bayne is an Associate Director in Gartner Benchmark Analytics, based in the United Kingdom.
Mr. Bayne has more than 25 years of experience in the IT industry, and
has been with Gartner since 1995. His primary area of expertise is
performance management for applications development and support,
and he works within the EMEA Application Development and Support
benchmarking service.
Grant has worked on more than 100 applications
benchmark engagements with companies around the
world. In addition, he has taken part in several
SEICMM/CMMI (the Software Engineering
Institute’s Capability Maturity Model/Capability
Maturity Model Integration) assessments. He also
provides advice and training on performance
management, software process improvement,
software metrics programmes and software sizing
and estimation. Grant earned a bachelor of
science degree in actuarial mathematics and
statistics from HeriotWatt University in
Edinburgh, Scotland.
Member's Experience in Metrics Peter founded Pentad Limited
in 1994 and initially focused on Project Planning and Estimation. Since
then he has extended his interest into other areas of measurement,
particularly Functional Size Measurement. He has been a committee member
of UKSMA for many years and was part of the team that developed the FPA
MkII FPA Measurement Manual and other UKSMA publications. He served on
the IFPUG Counting Practices Committee for several years and was
involved in the production of Version 4.1 of the IFPUG Counting
Practices Manual. More recently he joined COSMIC as a Core Member, is a
UK Representative on the COSMIC International Advisory Committee and is
a member of the Metrics Practices Committee. He was the Chairman of BSI
Committee IST/-15 charged with delivering Standards in the domain of
Information Systems and Technology. He played an active role in
the work of ISO/SC7/WG12 leading to the production of International
Standards for FPA MkII, COSMIC and IFPUG; currently focussing on Systems
and Software Architecture He hold certificate in competency for FPA MkII,
COSMIC, and CMMi Team Member. In between Peter has managed to fit in
real paid work for many organisations, mainly assignments as CMMi
assessment team member, to perform measurements, or to teach
others to do it.
